Ebrahim Azzam, a participant of our project, is a member of the druse community and was willing to show us his culture and their way of life! So we headed towards the Druse village called Daliat el Carmel in the Carmel mountains where we met an extended Druse family. They welcomed us in their "headquarters".
The Druse are a remote community living in the north of Israel. They see themselves as Arabs but not as Muslims and unlike their fellow Arabs their homeland is Israel. They are treated like most ethnic minorities in Israel. They have to attend the military services and the parliament has a fairly large numbers of Druse members. They have an above avarage representation in the parliament.
This visit gave us the opportunity to learn more about the Druse culture and see their way of life and what their customs are.
